How To Schedule Your Day As A Remote Worker?

Focus on your most important tasks and create a balance between being productive and staying healthy.

As someone who has been working remotely for the last nine years, with three years of full-time remote working experience, I get asked a lot what my day looks like. One thing I always say is, I have no idea.

No day is the same. I have to balance between clients, personal life, admin work, research and learning while keeping myself on a steady path to growth and self-improvement. I’ve recently upgraded to an entrepreneur so there are even more things to look out for.

Having a clear structure in mind is beneficial if everything breaks and it happens sometimes. That being said, I’ve learned that it usually doesn’t work like this, but having tasks and time laid out in front of you puts you in a mindset where you can respond to anything and minimize distractions as much as possible.

My “typical” working day looks very similar to this:

But, as you may have imagined, this is merely an ideal structure, that I sometimes achieve. Usually, there is an urgent client request or a call, or something goes wrong and you need to fix it. There are calls to be followed up with, proposals to write, contracts to sign. Occasionally I drop everything to focus on building a new campaign for a client that just dropped in.

And remember, you CAN do it! No matter how hard it feels sometimes. If you feel stuck, go back to the drawing board and ask yourself, why am I doing this. Refocus, restructure, recharge and go for it.
