Why Toy Story 4 Is Arguably the Best Toy Story Film

Pixar Studios have been the most important animation studio for over two decades, and they have come to remind all of us how animated movies should be done. Today I will argue why Toy Story 4 is easily the best Toy Story film, and possibly even the best Pixar Film.

First things first, the animation in this movie is second to none. There is such an evident focus on making every shot of the movie look absolutely breathtaking, that I dare say Pixar have yet again set a standard for animation. Not only is the attention to detail completely beautiful, but even the colors are beautiful. The palette of colors and textures that Pixar have used this time around is utterly astounding. From Woody’s plastic-like skin texture, to Bo’s glossy ceramic eyes, Pixar have taken the time to make every texture not only realistic, but breathtaking.

On the other hand, the facial expression for every single one of the characters carries so much emotion. Even Forky, a spork with googly eyes, portrays heaps of emotion, and also causes roars of laughter from the audience. All of this, accentuated with perfect animation.

As a perfect example, Forky’s walk is not completely uniform on both sides, because his feet are not the same length. In my opinion, only Pixar would pay such attention to their character creation that even little things such as walks are memorable.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never been the biggest fan of the dialogue in Pixar films, it generally sounds to be (obviously) catered to children, to a very extreme extent. But this movie is different, the themes presented are so deep, that even the dialogue sometimes is very intriguing. The comedy worked very well throughout most of the movie, I even found Key and Peele very charming and well written, something I was honestly not expecting to happen.
